Over at the AccuWeather forums, they are discussing a ‘shift’ in the storm’s direction resulting in a lowering of snowfall totals around New York City. Don’t count your chickens...

The shift in the expected storm track is a bit further east but that does not put NYC out of the woods. The lesser amounts would be seen west of the Hudson Valley. Those on eastern Long Island and Southeast New England (up to Boston) will likely see the highest amounts with this track but 20+ inches still very likely in NYC.

I used to be a cynic about the hyping of snowstorms in this area but I've seen way too many accidents brought on by jerks driving too fast for the conditions and thinking that their 4WD or AWD makes them invincible (it doesn't). Especially tractor trailer trucks. Some of those morons cause the worst of the pile-ups by trying to maintain highway speeds in blinding snow.

I used to be a hero about making it to the office on days like this but with modern technology, I can be just as productive at home as I can be in the office - so long as I keep my power on!

TWC: Weather-fag stomping around in two inches of snow, complaining that he still can see the skyscrapers.
