Texas Executes Killer Robert Ladd After Low-IQ Arguments Rejected

Texas on Thursday executed a man convicted of fatally beating a mentally disabled woman -- after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected arguments that he has an IQ of 67 and should be exempt from the death penalty.

In his final statement before the lethal injection, Robert Ladd, 57, addressed the sister of his victim by name, telling her he was "really, really sorry."

Ladd was sentenced to death for hammering, strangling and setting ablaze 38-year-old Vicki Ann Garner in 1996 — while he was on parole for a 1980 stabbing and arson that killed a woman and two children.

Ladd's lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union said his IQ fell below the threshold generally accepted for impairment, which prosecutors disputed.

"Texas aggressively pursued Mr. Ladd's execution, despite the fact that our constitution categorically prohibits the use of capital punishment against persons with intellectual disability," defense lawyer Brian Stull said in a statement.

No kidding...

My GS is more intelligent than half the population...Maybe three quarters. And she has no desire to beat people, stab them or set um on fire. But she is equipped with the latest in mobile/remote burglar alarm system technology, with state of the art oversize super hypersensitive radar like hearing, top shelf scent analyzers and other critical sensing devices, along with very efficient offensive and defensive mechanisms. She’s a great dog.

Below is an article with a bit more detail. I don’t think he was impaired, but he was a methodical and brutal murderer.

“while he was on parole for a 1980 stabbing and arson that killed a woman and two children”

This blood isn’t just on the murderer’s hands, then.

So what if a murderer is stupid? Doesn’t that just mean he’s too stupid to be “rehabilitated”, and should be put to sleep?

He was smart enough to pawn the items of one of his victims so he could buy crack.

The whole argument is especially pointless, since he lit fires to conceal evidence of his crimes, twice. So, he was obviously smart enough to know that what he did was wrong, since he tried to hide it.

If 67 IQ is low enough for a murder exemption, think about these statistics:

- The standard deviation of IQ is roughly 15 points
- The average IQ of a US black is 84
- 70 points is one standard deviation below 85
- The percentage of the black population that is one or more standard deviations below the average is roughly 16 %.

According to this argument 16% of the black population should be exempt from the full penalty for murder.

“Shit Be Upon Him.” Mudslimes uses the acronym “PBUH” for “Peace Be Upon Him” in referring to Mohamed. As far as I’m concerned SBUH is a far better tern to apply to both Mohamed and St.Trayvon of the Skittles. I freely grant my permission use it.
