In positing a response to the news that Romney is not running for president, we shouldn’t beat around the Bush. All we need to ask is:
Who cares, and who is this Romney guy any way? Did he win something in the past of significance or was he a loser?
Just Damn...
He didn’t really run in 2012 either....... good riddance.
LOL
thats Mrs Bidens Lil boy Joey for ya!!
Makes me smile.
I would also like to announce that I will not be running for President in 2016.
I realize that this is a great disappointment to my many supporters, since my chances of getting elected President were about the same as Romney’s chances were.
I hope that my announcement will serve as an inspiration to all other candidates who have no chance in hell of getting elected (e.g. Jeb Bush) to make similar announcements.
Perhaps Mike Lee will be president one day.
Only took him 1 day after the WaPo posted their interactive “How big is his house compared to yours?” page.
Immediate beneficiary of this announcement today is Jeb, of course. Both were competing in basically the same market and for the same donors. FNC and the WSJ (owned by the same person)did not want MR to run again, neither did his family especially his wife I suspect.
The only GOPe threat to Jeb now is Christie.
Huckabee and Santorum will compete for the evangelical and blue collar vote.
Paul will have the tiny GOP libertarian market.
Gov. Walker could cut out a nice niche for himself but could get undercut by Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, or Mike Pence.
Rick Perry and Ted Cruz will duke it out in the Lone Star State.
Sarah has been marginalized and typecast by the MSM. Her decision to resign as governor left her resume way too thin.
Dr. Carson may appeal to the none of the above crowd but has a resume even slimmer than SP’s.
Donald Trump will make a lot of noise (as usual) then decide not to get in at that last moment.
Rubio could emerge as a dark horse, horse but has to overcome both his past support for amnesty not to mention Jeb in his home state.
Carly is going nowhere.
Who best to take on HRC? My best guess is a governor with a strong track record of success in his state. My guess is someone like Walker or Perry. Clap an eye on Kasich, his smashing re-election in OH last November cannot be ignored, not to mention his folksy style which seems to connect.
Jeb is now the front runner for the nomination, but I’m closely watching Perry, Walker, and Kasich who will be there to pick up these pieces should Jeb falter or fail to connect. Christie will only serve to take GOPe votes away from Jeb especially in the northeast.
One down, two to go.
Maybe he will play the Nelson Rockefeller trick and re-enter early next year when it’s too late tor run in IA. Now the uninformed GOP primary voter can coalesce for sure behind their Jebbie.
You mean Nominee Bush III; he will lost handily to HRC, but AR could be competitive.
(The True God forbid it!)
Numerous reasons exist as to why I say that.
I mean, Mike Lee might make a great dog-catcher & I might vote for him for that office (I already know Romney wouldn't based upon him putting his dog atop his station wagon for an out-of-state vacation)
Here are a few of the reasons I say "the true God forbid it":
First of all, as a secondary matter, the high-geared Public Relations office of the Mormon Church would use a POTUS as a full-blown Mormonistic campaign blitz like none other. I'm not talking about pre-election, but post-election.
Secondly, also as a minor matter, if Mike Lee -- once moving beyond Utah -- labeled up to 80% of his base as "apostates" -- like the entrenched Mormon view of Protestant, Catholic & Orthodox Christians -- how can we trust him on world policy issues re: being able to accurately define other world religions?
Let's move on to other more primary considerations:
If Lee is a temple Mormon like Romney is,
...someone who believes they are a "god-in-embryo" enroute to becoming a full-grown god who will be worshiped and prayed to and steal glory from the One and Only true God...
...at that point in your hypothetical he would be as a POTUS candidate an idolatrous glory-hound depicting a tremendous lack of discernment and galloping gullibility
(And galloping gullibility ISN'T the #1 character trait I look for in "leader of the free world"...)
Sorry. But in your hypothetical I wouldn't vote for someone who thinks the White House is just a career stop on their way to a great White Throne to be worshiped and glorified.
BUT...If the other-worldly worldviews of a POTUS candidate doesn't phase others' trust in their character, gullibility, level of discernment, etc...So be it. (It's a Free Republic)
I think there is very little chance of Jeb being the Republican nominee, but I would take Bush III over Clinton II.
Thank you, Mr. Romney!
His wife let him off the hook.
Bush, III, is totally unacceptable to me.
