What is humorous is the people on the border are often related to back & forth. Everybody trades guns, long time common practice. Canadians have as many guns as Alaskans do; almost like there isn’t a border between locals, which is how it should be. I really think the border is mainly about money & control. When you call this place home, you get a different perspective. We are 110 miles downriver from Dawson; couldn’t call anywhere’s else home; more freedom here than I’ve experienced in my life.

IIRC, the remains they found of Timmy and his GF were....well...grizzly.

Good point.... Yogi gotta go. When station in Alaska in the 80’s USAF issued me a Mod 29 for my survival vest. It was a eye opener as to what was and wasn’t on top of the food chain up there.

Stay safe !

Interesting that these are black bears. For a while, the evironmentalists where saying the black bears are not as dangerous as grizzly/brown bears as they won't eat people.

Black bear population is rapidly growing and expanding all across America. Because of the antihuman attitude of the Left, killing one in certain states will get you in big trouble--probably jail and permanent loss of gun rights.

Here in Alabama we were pretty much bear free except in the jungle-like swamps of the Alabama-Tombigbee delta. However, now black bears are moving into the Northeast part of the state; Ft Payne--where the country group Alabama is from--and surrounding areas... They are finding denned sows in many areas this winter; many with new young. I have a good friend who works in Alabama Dept. of Environmental Management (a closet conservative) who told me state biologists are quite surprised at the rapidity of the spread.

And the leftists in government are all a twitter and smiling broadly. "Oh, we're going to have bears! So wonderful! Better not shoot any you nasty rednecks! We need new laws with harsh penalties if you do! Oh and black bears are not dangerous and won't hurt you. Any other talk is just scare-mongering!"

Ya, thanks; in a cold snap right now; but warmest winter I have ever experienced here in the interior; yeah, hoorah, for the global warming; more more we want more.

What gets real disconcerting with me is when I'm with the local Indians and they start talking to them grizzly bear up close. I don't care if them bear only eat White People; don't trust them one bit. There's is something to their belief that the moose know it's their place in the scheme of things to provide sustenance to man; present themselves to provide fresh meat for the Indians. No joke, the moose hang around the Indians like they are their long lost relatives, ha ha.

I just read in the North American Hunter magazine, that they did a study on hunters and grizzlies. It had been the assumption that the grizzlies were following the sound of the gun shots, to go in and steal elk kills from hunters. But they put GPS on both hunters and some grizzlies. Turns out that the bears were actually stalking the hunters, not just waiting for the hunter to shoot the elks. Beware.

My Mom was visiting her sister in Alaska. They were going to pick wild blueberries. Auntie straps on her Magnum; Mom is aghast!

Auntie says, deadpan, “Bears like blueberries, too.”
