First signed onto FR in 1996, but had been lurking for several months. Yes, I do know a few Alaskan Freepers, a few hunting buddies I met on here; but most don’t get on FR much anymore. WE live along the Upper Yukon a few miles from Canadian border. It was minus 51 two days back.

Geez, you are out in the sticks!

I really love that part of Alaska...worked out of Dawson City a couple of seasons and had a helicopter/fixed wing supported gold exploration project I managed SW of Dawson about three miles on the Yukon Territory side of the Alaskan border.

Loved it up there except on the Canadian side it was almost impossible to have a firearm. We did have a shotgun in camp, and had to kill a black bear who would not stay out of camp...this with electric perimeter fence around camp. We chased it off with the chopper but it kept coming back.

You live in an amazing place, (but you can have Fairbanks!). I worked one season at the Fort Knox gold mine out of Fairbanks and was not impressed with the city but did like the brewery at Fox.

Cheers
