It would almost seem that ISIS and its barbarism are a part of some incredible plot to convince the Arab masses to abandon their religion and embrace secularism or something else.

Understood. However, isn’t Arabic read from right to left? Just thinking that the crucifixion of a dead body not that big a deal but then remembering that the way a Muslim dies is critical to whether he she goes to Allah. I think that’s why beheading is so popular and maybe why the Jordanian pilot won the burning alive card.
I think the whole ISIS thing is an attempt to create the chaos necessary to force their Mahdi to reveal himself. They’re trying to speed along Islamic prophecy.

I see this as interesting because it may be the beginning of the much needed internal reform. Al-Azhar is perhaps the most important center of Sunni religious instruction, so its pronouncements carry great weight. For all those who have been waiting for a sign of central movement in Islam, this may be it, or the beginning of it.

It is important. Islam functioned effectively as a war machine until it’s people experienced the plenty available in trade and contact with outside ideas. Islam is naturally socialistic and that leads to dictatorships. Toss in the most common form of government in the world - tribalism - and you’ve got a recipe for bad government.
ISIS is doing the world a favor by forcing a realignment in Islam. Politically and economically radical Islam is a disaster. There isn’t an Muslim-lead country in the world that can compare to the West. Dubai, et. al. included. Poverty, tyranny and Islam are all found together. It’s another reason to keep the Internet free of government coercion. That free flow of information, just a photo, can change lives. Farmers in the boondocks of the heart of Africa have Internet service.

Tom here- I like this one where Muhammed is ransoming too many prisoners and pocketing the money, but seems to get a reprimand from Allah who wants more Infidels dead, and less ransomed.
