so future schoolkids can be amazed that there were 3 Presidents George Bush.

Sure but they will only be able to name one of them.

I think you give our future way too much credit! Most millennials, TODAY, don't know how many U.S. Senators they have from their state, nor can they name a single one of the pair! SAD!

"These conservative ideals — being pro-life and promoting school choice — are a matter of principle for me," Bush said . . .

That's . . . uh . . . curious. Years ago, when he first started making public appearances, a gen-X publication called Details did a portrait of him as a Bush for the Future: his big credential was his support for legal abortion.

Would you have supported him if his name wasn’t Bush?

Like I said, I know him. He was a good attorney. I think he could be a good Texas Land Commissioner. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt despite his last name.

In 10 or 20 years he might be a good Senator or even Governor. Or he might be a crappy Land Commissioner and in 10 or 20 years he will be a has been. Either way, his last name is going to cost him far more votes than it will ever get him.

He would not have been on the ballot if his name wasn't Bush. He has zero qualifications for that or any other office. The only job he had prior to this was at a Potemkin company set up by the Bushies to give him something - anything - on his resume so the whole thing wouldn't be obvious as a farce.

But, to answer your question directly, no, I would not have supported him.

Actually, he was a high school teacher for two years before going to law school. He was then a corporate attorney with Akin Gump for several years before serving a tour in Afghanistan as an intelligence officer in the Naval Reserve. He had to serve under a fake name so that his unit wouldn't become a target. Most people had no idea he was in Afghanistan until his tour was over.

He has far more qualifications than most politicians. His biggest disqualification is his last name.

This is the first time his name came up since the election, actually. Hardly seizing any spotlight

The school teacher thing I did know about but had forgotten. That's a legit job and I would in no way disparage it but it hardly is a qualification for statewide office.

The Akin Gump gig for a bigfoot politician's son is so much dross. Hillary and the Mooch did tours at big law firms, too. They'd both starve as working lawyers if they didn't have influence to peddle. You'll have to point me to where Geo. P. did some actual lawyering without training wheels.

What am I to make of the Afghanistan/fake name business? It might be true; it would align with Uncle George's and Grampa George's service. On the other hand it might be fake but accurate. By the nature of your claim, it can't be documented so its evidentiary value is nil.

All that aside, though, I still would not vote for him if he was George Washington's son, nephew, or grandson because it stinks of royal succession.

Which entirely supports what I said. His biggest disqualification is his last name.

Not to be tendentious about it, but, bring me bring me a candidate George P Hedge with exactly the same qualifications and I would suggest city council would be the place to start, not a statewide office. If he was qualified for LC, I would not vote for him because he is another Bush. But, that didn't come in to play because I judged him, regardless of name, to not be qualified for the office.

Clearly, you're fan of him; I'm not. He'll get your vote; I'll vote against him. We'll cancel each other out and others will decide the issue.
