George P. Bush's new job as Texas land commissioner has nothing to do with abortion, and it lacks any authority to funnel public dollars to private schools. But after barely 30 days in office, he's already headlined high-profile rallies on both issues.
The 38-year-old has a political surname far better known than his obscure office, which administers Texas' vast public lands and mineral rights. Though he insists he's not yet eying any moves up Texas' political ladder, the newest Bush in politics has wasted no time becoming a leading voice for top conservative causes and seizing the spotlight in a state already full of powerful Republicans.
"He's a rising star in our state and nationally," said Matt Mackowiak, a Republican strategist based in Austin. "He's going to be in very high demand this year. They're going to have to get good at saying no."

Sadly, there could be a very qualified Bush in their family woodshed (although I doubt it), and I still wouldn’t vote for him/her. We don’t need royalty in this Country.
Maybe we should elect him president just so future schoolkids can be amazed that there were 3 Presidents George Bush.

I know George P. and prefer him to his father, uncle and grandfather. I supported him in this election and I might support him someday for a higher state office.
I just hope he does not have any aspirations higher than state office. He could be the best candidate in the world but my ancestors came here to get away from monarchies and dynasties.

Geo. P - pronounced “Gee oh pee” - is on the same fast track that Obama was on. A teflon coated career path that leaves no trail, never lingers in one place long enough to actually learn how to do anything, but sounds oh so impressive on the fundraising mailers and Sunday morning news show intros. Expect a big speech at the GOP (or is that Geo. P. ?) convention.
Oh for crying out loud, the establishment is sure pushing their boy like they did with Romney, Dole, McCain and Bush sr and that went well for them.
