Been reading about the Egyptian president. Courage to call fanaticism what it is. Actually walked into an Coptic church on Christmas eve to wish them a Merry Christmas. Wants to be a president to all.

More than what we have here.

With ISIS I think it really does take a village. This is a situation that you cannot pile on hard enough.

When Jefferson unleashed the Marines on the Barbary pirates for kidnapping US merchants on shipping vessels in the Mediterranean, would you have opposed that military action.

We had the option of paying one million dollars each year out of our annual 7 million dollar budget in ransom to the pirates in order to do commerce in the region.

Is that your type of ideal foreign policy?

I honestly do not believe there has ever been a viable era of isolationism for the United States— including the beginning. I am curious to know what era is ideal in your mind.

I don’t think Pat is an “isolationist”. He just doesn’t want to fight wars that are not ours. Look at all the killed and maimed of our fine young people in Bush’s two wars. Wars that were not even fought as wars.

It is the Job of all of us to kill ISIS? “All of us” would not be doing the fighting and dying. Just the young men and women that deserve something better than becoming cannon fodder in another war we don’t intend to win.

Problem being that if "one" did that in a "civilized" country, "one" would end up raked over the coals by the media and have a life-long room at Club Fed.

Would it be easier to evacuate the Christians and non-violent Muslims that want outta that hell hole and turn the place into a big cage match area for violent Islamics to do-what-they-do to each other? When the dust settles and a winner is declared, present them with their trophy! /humor sortof d;^)

I do not imply to ignore actions against our interests elsewhere. I feel we should severely limit immigration and only engage on foreign soil when it has a direct affect on us. I am getting tired of the humanitarian angle when we are vilified as devils every where we go. So let someone else do it or let’s sell weapons and let them fight like we did for our freedom.

I also say that outside the military you travel outside the US at your own risk.

That is of course dependent on our current crop of loser as our leaders. If we went to a more scorched earth policy like Jefferson did then I have no problem remaining a participant in the global arena. I am tired of fighting with our hands and feet bound.

Killing pirates, tyrants, and terrorists is the job of ordinary people - in some cases through their elected representatives - but it is always everyone’s job. We should carpet bomb terrorist training camps, drone-strike terrorist leaders, and in all other respects make terrorism a low-gain career choice. Jordan, Europe, Israel, and even Russia should do the same.
