California DMV target of a suit over voter registration
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | February 6, 2015 | Bob Egelko

Voting-rights advocates are threatening to sue California — which has one of the nation’s lowest voter-registration rates — unless the state starts complying with a 20-year-old federal law that requires the Department of Motor Vehicles to make it easy for people to sign up to vote when they apply for a driver’s license or identification card.

“Only 12 percent of California’s voter registrations come from the DMV, compared with 85 percent in Michigan, she said.”

Michigan requires a pictured ID to vote, perhaps CA needs to do that!

It’s a waste of time to vote in CA.

Respectfully, in my city, in Orange County, a Democrat hasn’t won local office since I’ve been here (1990). I turn out for every election.

Thank you.

There currently is a 3 month wait at the local DMV because the state is giving ILLEGALS driver licenses!

Anyone in CA capable of critical thought understands the vote process in CA has been undermined, compromised and subverted...

It’s a waste of time to vote in CA.

No joke.

Not a chance, I am sorry to say.

But you're all giddy about the Republicans getting elected where you live, right?

This is what I'm talking about. For 15 years they've conned and hoodwinked you into thinking they're conservatives who'll lower taxes, reduce the size of government, deport illegals etc...

But you got nothing, they got the insider government jobs and made you feel good for voting for Republicans.

Happens in D.C. all the time and people are too stupid to realized they've been had.

But at least you can run around telling people you voted for the R's. That's gota be worth a nickle.

Regrets, I made my response this morning, pre coffee. I was thinking in the context of Calif., as a whole, not my city.

My area was unincorporated, until the year 2000, when it incorporated. There have been no local tax increases, since that time, and there is a substantial reserve fund.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify my previous comment.

Wait, Republicans have been your representatives for over 15 years and they haven't reduced your taxes?

What have they been doing for 15 years besides collecting those bloated lottery style government retirement pensions, perks and benefits?

I thought Republicans wanted less government, less taxes, less regulations etc., etc?

What happened?

Most of us in our community are quite pleased that in California, our local taxes have not been raised, in 15 years. Doubtful our Democratically controlled brethren can make the same claim, in their localities.

Given that the original premise was “It’s a waste of time to vote in CA”, I respectfully disagree, and stand by my disagreement, with that statement.

Nothing personal.

Thank you.
