Hahaha, they told us a NV regiment was expected to
hit the wire and had everyones spinkter in a twist.
They, gunnys etc. said remember if one tries to
surrender, shoot them, if they all surrender at
once then volunteers will go out and disarm them...
Yeah right. I was in a bunker with an indian guy
with a tomahawk and a big bowie with a SSgt. with
a M3 laying on top, it wasn’t any consolation to me.
I remember running down the road and seeing a fuel tank
up on HIll 36 burning like crazy. Nobody was hurt
that I remember but when they blew the damaged hangers
down in a day or two, some gyrene was killed by a
flying bolt.
I’ll always remember the sound that star shells made
when they came apart, they made a kind of whoop whoop
Exciting but not as much as when I first got there
and artillery was emplaced on the beach and firing
over the tents to the hills inland...
Damn, I just fell down out in the shop, tripped over
an extention cord with my hands full, broke my fall
stiff armed and now my shoulder is making a grinding
noise, hell just what I needed.

It was not a nuke. It lacked the characteristic flash.
I know. I just wonder why “HQ” told them to spread around the nuke nonsense.
