My wife and I visit a lot of old cemeteries here in central KY. It is shocking how many infant graves there are from the 1800s and early 20th century. In some cases, six or seven kids in a ten year period to the SAME PARENTS and, finally, the parents graves decades later.
You see a LOT of it in every cemetery.

However, by the early 1960's(before the Measles vaccine was used in the U.S.(1967 I believe) the death rate from measles was about 3 in 100,000 cases. People with proper nutrition(especially those with an adequate amount of Vitamin A and Vitamin C)do not die from measles.
In 1963, there were about 450 deaths from measles. Meanwhile, about 12,000 people died from stomach ulcers. Just over 43,000 people died from car accidents in 1963. Over 700,000 people died from heart disease.
