There is a big difference between Diphtheria, Typhus, Pertussis, Polio and measles mumps and rubella and chicken pox.

This drama over these mild children’s illnesses is an embarrassment and certainly not worth the attention paid to them.

This drama over these mild children’s illnesses ...measles

Roald Dahl/Patricia Neal had a daughter that died from measles encephalitis. Rare then, but even rarer now with measles vaccinations.

(Just happened to look up Dahl the other day...)

Measles is a very dangerous infection in infants and young children. It can and does kill. Mumps in adolescents can and does lead to multiple complications from meningitis to sterility.

Preventing these highly infectious diseases is certainly worth paying attention to.

I agree. This is getting ridiculous. We are talking about 154 cases, and there has been no measles deaths reported in the U.S. since 2003.

However, there have been 108 deaths due to the vaccine in the last 10 years. Lets put things into perspective.

There are a lot of other things I am concerned about when it comes to my children. Dying from measles in not even on the list.
