Incidentally, the “evidence” on which the original claim that vaccines caused autism was based was just 12 children. But the campaign to convince the public was a masterpiece of propaganda.

As I recall the CDC scientist William Thompson admitted about 6 months ago that they buried a report linking the MMR vaccine to autism; but hey since they hid the report it doesn't count.

The other issue that needs addressed is whether mercury is dangerous or not. You can't have the government going around telling people to panic and toss their old thermometers and that a dropped CFL bulb counts as a hazmat spill and then tell people that vaccine preserved with mercury are ok. Even low information voters aren't that dumb.

Correct. Dr Thompson, one of the CDC authors of a 2004 paper, has admitted that CDC removed the stats which linked the MMR vaccine to autism. President Obama granted Dr. Thompson whistle blower immunity several months ago. Sharyl Attkittson has recorded phone conversations on her investigation of this vaccine/autism coverup. Whether or not any of this will come out if/when there are Congressional hearings is anyone’s guess.
