At eleven, most likely she doesn’t care. If she feels anything, it’s probably resentment at being held in custody. In Southeast Asia, a girl of her age would be caring for her younger brothers and sisters plus learning a trade. It’s a matter of expectations and pride and love.

This reminds me of the AA boy in Florida who played wrestlemania with the young girl who was staying with his family. He drop kicked he and beat her so badly that her liver broke in half and was reading at the bottom of her abdomen. His mother ( no father) refused a plea and he was sentenced as an adult, I believe. Later overturned.
