This latest Greek problem started when a government employee saw a satellite photo of Athens. He noticed all the home swimming pools. People were supposed to buy a permit to build a home swimming pool. Nobody had bought one.
The lesson is that the Greeks like the good life as long as somebody else pays the taxes for it.
“Let them eat swimming pools.”
I saw a lot if ‘unfinished’ buildings there. Bare concrete and rebar sticking out of the roof.
I was told that unfinished buildings were not taxed.
People were living in them just fine on the lower floors.
