You make excellent points...first it was Patton, then MacArthur. Interesting, both were line officers, not REMF types, leaders not administrators and winners rather than conciliatory.

I would also toss Shermin into the mix of whom we need.

As far as the Ruskies go, my uncle was stationed in far North Korea in a PBM squadron told me that at the end of WW2 his planes were shot at by the Ruskies over Manchuria. He strongly believed that Patton was right, that was the time to finish off the commies. Of course they could not engage them as their planes had been decommissioned by then.

In China at the end of WW 2 a guy named John Birch, an intelligence officer, was killed by Chinese Communists and
the United States didn’t make a fuss.

The John Birch society was formed in the 1950’s believing elites were promoting Communism through government. JBS was a little crazy and over the top, but the elite business leaders were more interested in trading and economics that fighting America’s enemies and they still are....
