PHOENIX — Gov. Doug Ducey urged the "faith-based community" and abortion foes to step up to help the state deal with the thousands of children born who now in state care.

"I am proudly pro-life" the governor told a rally of members of the anti-abortion Center for Arizona Policy. "And I look forward to working with you on those issues."

But Ducey said there are things that need to happen.

"We have 16,900 children that are now outside of the womb and are wards of the state," he continued.

"And I'm asking for your help as an organization, the faith-based community to re-engage in this issue of child safety, whether it's foster parents, whether it's adoption, whether it's as a court-appointed special advocate for these children," Ducey said. "These are the most vulnerable in our society and they are in many situations not being cared for properly."

I don't know this Gov. Ducey but I'll refrain from giving my opinion as the moderator would just delete it anyway.

He is Pro-Life and he is asking that the members of the Pro-life group he talked to get involved with the kids that need a family. He has every right, and dare I say responsibility, to ask and I bet hundreds will decide to become foster parents, adopting parents and volunteers that never did so before.

Sometimes people just need to be asked.

Is like I said. They think we don’t care about babies/children after they are born. I just get sick of that notion that we don’t care for kids after they are born.

I don’t know him. okay? I just get sick of people telling me “you only care for them until they are born, then you don’t give a damn”. Yes I’ve been told that!!! I get so sick of that attitude. Maybe it’s the way the article has it written that has me off and maybe its also off color comments I and others have been told too but I’m sick of it man.

It was written by Leftist wankers who say anti-abortion. That is why I always say pro-abortion or pro-infanticide. They twist the guys words to make it sound like he is on their side.

I always tell the idiots ‘who do you think adopts and cares for foster kids?People so self centered that they kill their own children?’

They do say that, but I doubt they actually believe it. It just gives them a way to avoid thinking about the contents of the pathology waste container.

That is not a bad point, and I’d take it a step further: It helps when high profile people like Governors speak out on the need, and ask. It helps address the need, and it (the asking itself) is VISIBLE to many more people than the filling of the need is. That may not be fair, but at least it makes the “leader’s” position stronger. It certainly helps deflate the “the kid would be better off never born” argument when our leaders show their compassion, lead, and are not afraid to ask for help in such endeavors.

I think your issue is with the writer of the article and not the governor. Your letting the write taint your view of the governor which was clearly intended.

This is just one of the reasons why I started A Gift of Hope Adoptions. I have been in the pro life movement for a long time. I can tell you that any newborn, whatever the circumstances, will be adopted by someone. Sadly though, the older a child gets, the less likely this will happen.
