I can’t figure out how a caucus would ultimately help. It would ONLY help for the primary allowing him to be on the ballot for the GOP nomination for Senate and not appear for President. However, this statute makes no exception for the general election, therefore, he would have to be left off the ballot for President should he win the nomination and risk having to win without Kentucky’s 8 electoral votes, or he would have to withdraw from the Senate race, leaving the GOP without a candidate.
