I was in NYC on Tuesday. It actually did feel pretty safe there.

I got some lamb shish kabobs from a street vendor - pretty good.

-----I don't know how they can be sure----

It doesn't matter. The key to moonbat success is to lie to make things look good and then retract in very fine print weeks later.

LIE

truth

(Of course, this count & this article intentionally leaves out daily operational NY abortuaries...which one of the original NY abortionists — Bernard Nathanson — will tell you was indeed outright murder)

Bodies likely covered in snow, or not smelling because of the cold.

Better recalculate come April.

Yet the murder rate is up 18% since Diblasio was elected.

Where id you get that statistic? According to the article, "murders in New York City in 2014 fell to an all-time low of 328, the fewest since the New York Police Department started keeping reliable records in 1963." (DiBlasio was sworn in on January 1, 2014.)

I don't know how they can be sure. It's the middle of February, and there has been a police slowdown. More likely they haven't found the bodies yet.

Aren't most bodies discovered and reported to police, rather than being found by police themselves?

New York City, once notorious for high crime

It's not even in the top 30 by murder rate.

But don't let the fact ruin a good piece of newsyness.

Perhaps they’re just getting better at hiding the bodies.

Why is it so hard to appreciate the fact that NYC has had one of the lowest homicide rates of any big city in the Country going back to the days of Mayor Giuliani? NYC has a dense and ethnically diverse population of about 8.3 million people, and on an average work day, the population swells by another two million commuters and visitors. Indeed, more people pass through Grand Central Station on an average work day than the entire population of Denver.

One might think that a city that large and diverse must have a violent crime problem, but in fact, over the last 15 years or so, NYC has had one of the lowest violent crime rates/homicide rates of any big city in the country. This years homicide numbers are not a fluke and have nothing to do with cold weather and snow, but rather, the low numbers are a continuation of a long-term trend that is diserving of praise and admiration..

The criminal homicide rate in NYC is about 5.1 per 100,000 people who live there (and even lower if you count the 1.7 million daily commuters and visitors). That's significantly lower than places like Dallas, Denver, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, Houston, San Antonio, Omaha, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Mobile, Phoenix, Aurora, and many other large cities regardless of whether the city is located in a red or blue state. Although NYC has a lot to criticize like its taxes, cost of living, congestion, bureaucracy, and uber liberalism, its low violent crime rate should be the envy of even conservatives.
