I realize this link is a little long, but it is a sat image of the “airbase”. ISIS will have a very difficult time just closing with Marines who regularly QUALIFY on range at 500 yards. If the Marines are under siege, they will not be trying to hold off the entire airbase, they will selectively (ferociously) keep an area that can enable them easy re-supply and/or extraction with fall back positions. “High ground” area’s are most likely booby trapped already and I don’t believe reports of “lost communication”. Maybe from the Iraqi side, but our guys have comm.
