Washington (AFP) - The United States charged Friday that Russia was continuing to deploy heavy weapons in eastern Ukraine, before a ceasefire agreed this week goes into effect.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States had received reports of heavy weapons being moved into eastern Ukraine from Russia over the past few days, and more apparently on the way.

"This is clearly not in the spirit of this week's agreement," Psaki told reporters.

She said the Russian military had deployed large amounts of artillery and multiple rocket launcher systems and was using it to shell Ukrainian positions.

"We are confident that these are Russian military, not separatist systems," she said, adding that Russian troops along the border were preparing a large shipment of supplies to pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine.

At least 27 civilians and soldiers were reported to have been killed in the surge of fighting since the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany agreed Thursday on a ceasefire that is to go into effect on Sunday.

The fragile agreement was seen as the best hope of ending the conflict, which has killed at least 5,480 people and ratcheted East-West tensions to highs not seen since the Cold War, but skepticism remains high after the collapse of a similar previous peace plan.

"All parties must show complete restraint in the run up to the Sunday cease-fire, including an immediate halt to the Russian and separatist assault on the Debaltseve and other Ukrainian towns," Psaki said.

Because at the time(s) we didn’t have a cowardly indecisive affirmative action piece of fecal matter in charge. IMHO

I am telling you that it is absolutely none of our business. This is a rogue coup de tat government that overthrew a constitutionally elected government in Ukraine. Have we lost our damned minds? We could’nt last 6 hours in a shoot out with a real military with our gay and pregnant and feminized military. It would be sickening to watch. If we want to fight — go down to the mexican border and stop these “unearned tax crediti maggots from coming in out country illegally!!

Let’s address news.yahoo.com.

Anyone, including you, me, your grandma, your dog handler and the gardener can write for yahoo.

Yahoo is NOT credible. Period.

You’re ignoring the massive protests over the corruption. Russia bought off the government and the decision was made to shelve the EU agreement lots of Ukrainians wanted.

The president bailed after some of the protestors were murdered. Since then elections have been held.

To quote a brilliant mind WhiskeyX:

“The national interest of all sovereign nations and the Permanent members of the United Nations Security Council in particular in seeing to it that the fundamental principles of international law regarding such key issues as the territorial integrity of members of the United Nations, international treaties, obligations for peaceful settlement of territorial disputes, and so forth are respected instead of being blatantly violated by Russia. That is just for starters. There is also for example the United States’ status as a party to the Budapest Memorandum.”

From my understanding Debaltseve and some other areas are contested areas in the agreement; so whoever has control stays on Sunday. Russia must be acting accordingly.

did anyone really think Russia wanted peace? did anyone really think this was about “rebels” in 2 cities?

did anyone truly believe any of that? I think many of those backing Russia would cheer when Russian tanks are storming into Brussels too.

The Parliament was not a constitutionally elected government? Does their Parliament not have the power to depose a corrupt Russian-puppet President who was looting the country??

Then why did they even meet and agree? Since they were denying involvement in the first place, why did they even attend?

Nuts!

“Peace in our time”

Everyone knows what is really going on, but they want to be “diplomatic”
