The massive air base at Ayn al-Assad in Iraq’s Anbar Province hosts 400 US Service members, who are training Iraq Air Force personnel. They now are in danger of serving as hostages to ISIS, which has conquered the nearby city of Al Baghdadi and already threatened the perimeter of the base.

As a result, US helicopters have been brought in to provide close ground support for the Iraqi boots on the ground. CNN:

It isn’t a nightmare for Obama when Americans are killed by ragheads in an event that further weakens our fighting strength. For him, that’s a dream come true.

If our Marines end up in the hands of ISIS, I fear that Obama will not be the only casualty. The entire gutless Congress will share the blame for failing to impeach, convict and execute this traitor for treason.

Obama and the democrats have done plenty.....to destroy EVERYTHING that was won in the ME. They have pissed on the spilled blood of our military, with their lies, exaggerations and hype against GWB all for political gain. Their decision making has set the ME back decades and the entire world is in jeopardy from the ISIS at threat that was allowed to become malignant throughout the world, under Obamas watch. There is no way, this would have happened under Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, the enemy wouldn’t have had the guts.

Also carpet bomb the hundreds of unguarded storage units full of small arms and ammunition that were pictured several days ago. You know, the type of ammo we can no longer get. His “alpha agencies” bought all the other calibers including hollow points...

Steel.... I recently finished reading “Breakout”, the story of the Marines 1st Division fight from the Chosin Reservoir to Hamhung in December 1950.

Our Marines were surrounded by thousands of Communist Chinese, yet they were victorious.

The Marine’s discipline, courage, and fire power saved them from defeat. They never ran out of ammo.

I’m confident that ISIS will have their @zzes severely whupped if they attack our Marines. oohrah!! Hollar back!!

The problem was that Bush II was like a retarded monkey compared to Bush I.

At least Bush I had the brains to figure out that a ruthless dictator like Saddam Hussein was preferable to the utter chaos that would unfold over there with "democracy" under Islamic tribalism.

Carter ended his presidency with Iran holding 60 US hostages.

Obama could be facing a major hostage situation, if ISIL/ISIS does take over the base.

Carter’s hostage situation lasted 444 days — until he was out of office.

Obama’s hostage situation might not have the luxury of lasting that long, as ISIL/ISIS starts burning captive Marines on video.

Any place where "tribal leadership" has the same status as a functioning government shouldn't even exist as a nation.

As a practical matter, that is correct.

Ten years ago it was apparent the vision of most Iraqi's of fighting age was limited by their tribal perspective, certainly their religious perspective. To us students of history who were on the ground it seemed unlikely there could or would be any nation-wide patriotic rising or revolution to throw off an oppressive government, or even an invading force.

While the early US mission statement was admirable, it was only the first step in what was necessary for the tribes to effectively coalesce as a nation.

We had the good sense after WWII to not leave Germany and Japan too quickly; that lesson was certainly available for our current politicians.

In this instance, the sheik calls for US intervention, or arms, simply because his government in Baghdad is not providing him the US-furnished tools with which to defend his Sunni community...simply because they are Sunni's!

Germany and Japan were sovereign nations when we defeated and occupied them.

Iraq was so far from being a real sovereign nation that there was no formal declaration of war before the U.S. defeated and occupied it. Instead, the U.S. military campaign was carried out under the idiocy of a "war on terror" or some other sh!t like that ... which meant it was about as likely to succeed as all the other similar wars that have been fought since the 1960s -- the "War on Poverty," "War on Drugs," etc.

Which means: No, the "early U.S. mission statement" was not admirable at all.

I’m just judging Obama based on his real life reactions, he wouldn’t turn into a Reagan or even a W. under any circumstances. Didn’t he once say the US could absorb a nuke strike?
