I forgot to add an observation. When I lived and worked in the Middle East most of the Muslims were good honest people that just wanted to live their lives in peace. Although not radical jihadists, with rare exceptions will they oppose the jihadists in a clash of cultures between East and West. In effect they are silent supporters. That explains a lot about what is happening in the Middle East and what is not happening.

In their minds they are choosing the lesser of two evils. The king of Jordan is an exception. He is a good and honorable man and the same can be said of Egypts leader, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. Those two are at the top of the Jihadist’s list for murder.

Men like the King of Jordan (Or Mubarak or Saddam etc) can keep the islamists in check, but only temporarily. The evil koranic doctrines will always reappear, generation after generation. Secular "strong man" leaders are only a temporary solution.
