Yes, I was surprised too, since Coptic churches and people have also been targeted in Egypt as well.
Here is a listing of the various power centers within Libya. The included map did not copy, but here are the main cities listed from west to east: Zintan [the mountain area which was a major force in liberating Tripoli], Tripoli, Misrata (which suffered terribly during the Gaddafi fight), Sirte [the centrally located city which Gaddafi tried to make a new capital], Benghazi, Derna, Tobruk
Libya’s rival power bases
Map locator [Unfortunately, the map would not copy, but you can see it if you go to the continuation of the article]
*Tripoli: government appointed by old parliament that challenged legitimacy of last year’s elections
*Tobruk: internationally recognized government, ousted from capital not long after 2014 election
Both backed by loose alliance of militias focused on local interests
*Benghazi: second city and headquarters of 2011 Revolution, largely in hands of Islamist fighters, some with links to al-Qaeda
*Misrata: third city and main port, also loyal to Tripoli authorities. Its militias keep them in power.
*Derna: home to Islamic State
One problem that the Republican Congress will face in trying to beef up our military is that so many of them have signed the Grover Norquist tax restriction pledges. I do not understand how this CAIR supporting man with a Palestinian wife has been so successful in abetting the weakening of our military. Is it some kind of plot?
Well, I'm glad that they're doing it.
And one of the reasons is that it shouldn't always be us. It's about time SOMEONE else finally took up some action in dealing with muslim terrorists.
OTOH, how far we've fallen that we are being outdone by muslim countries.
