First Lady Michelle Obama missed out on President Obama’s Valentine’s Day golfing weekend in sunny California, but it appears that she has her own trip planned for next month.
According to the Asahi Shimbun, the First Lady and her daughters Sasha and Malia will be traveling to Japan for a visit in March.

Its hard to believe it was just thirty years ago the Leftist media was hyperventilating over Nancy Reagan soliciting contributions to replace the White House China and borrowing Adolfo gowns.

I suspect that she’ll take her mother (who has been living in the WH, as I understand it) and a myriad of friends with her - - perhaps Oprah, since Michelle Ma Bell stayed at Oprah’s place in Hawaii for a while after the family vacay the Christmas before last.
Millions of dollars more to subsidize the life style of our imperial White House. Dear Leader is most likely trying to figure out how he can retain access to the Treasury when he leaves office. Maybe a good scam like Solyndra is in the offing.

I’m sure their hosts will be gracious, but I’d love to know what the average Japanese citizens (particularly the hotel staff) will think of these grifters.

As recently as Harry Truman presidents were expected to provide for their own families.
Who pays for all of this frivolity now? Donors? Taxpayers?
If traffic is stopped and locals inconvenienced, well, tough.
Harry Truman would be appalled. He paid for his own vacations and entertainment. He had no pension. He had to drive himself back to Missouri after Ike was sworn in. Truman refused to enrich himself by “selling” ex-presidential influence.
Recent enough for some of us to remember.
