I began my career in Furies and Crown Vics...my department had a mixed fleet. Ended it in the Dodge Charger. Funny thing. The Crown Vic was the most comfortable patrol car I ever drove but it was an absolute pig when accelerating. The Charger was great on acceleration but not the most comfortable. We had a few Furies too and a couple of Chevy Impalas. The Chevy’s were faster than the Crown Vics (at least that was my experience) but the Crown Vics were more comfortable.
I remember getting in a chase on the interstate. The piece of junk Crown Vic I had would barely do 65 mph. I was so embarrassed, had my foot to the floor, lights and sirens and barely keeping up with traffic.
