Words are everything, even in the global warming debate. TV personality Bill Nye the “Science Guy” told MSNBC’s Joy Reid to use the phrase climate change, not global warming, when it’s so cold out.
“Let’s not confuse or interchange climate change with global warming,” Nye told Reid on Monday. “Global warming – The world is getting warmer. There is more carbon [dioxide] holding in more heat.”
“So when the climate changes, some places get colder,” Nye added. “And the thing that’s really consistent with climate change models is this variance where it’s cold, it’s warm, it’s cold, it’s warm… So what I would hope for, my dream, Joy, is that you all, you and the news business would just say the word climate change.”
Nye’s remarks come as the U.S. is hit by another “arctic blast” that is sweeping through the Midwest and East Coast this week with temperatures plunging across the country. Tuesday’s highs are supposed to hit 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit across the eastern half of the country. . .

Nonsense! I am an electrical engineer and on the internet I claim expert status in politics, economics, movies, music, history, climate science, and humorous cat pictures ALL THE TIME!
And I still wouldn't trust him to tell me what is wrong with my washing machine.
Last year I saw him debating a republican congresswoman when he held up a map showing the extent of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean.
She pointed out the map was of Antarctica.
What makes this so laughable is that, before global warming, they touted “the greenhouse effect”. (Note: after the ‘population bomb’ fraud of the 1970s. Promulgated to give them money and power.)
Why? Well imagine a real greenhouse. In winter it is warmer than the outside air, because heat stealing evaporation is limited, and the warmth of the sun is lost more gradually. Then in summer, the heat is somewhat moderated by the humidity within the greenhouse.
So, a real “greenhouse effect” is that extremes of temperature are moderated, and overall, things are somewhat warmer.
Importantly, the surface of the Moon is the *opposite* of the greenhouse effect, because it has no atmosphere. So when the sun is shining on things, they become very hot, around 253F. But right next to that, where a shadow is cast, the temperature might be *minus* 243F.
Back before global warming, the future of the world was predicted based on the idea of the greenhouse effect: somewhat warmer and more humid. But that was not dramatic enough to get the money and power the advocates of the greenhouse effect wanted, so they changed the name.
“Man Made Global Warming”. Disregarding the greenhouse effect, they instead embraced the “hockey stick panic” fraud of Michael Mann, that the ice caps would melt and the world would become an uninhabitable desert. Unless you give us money and power.
But the Sun and the Earth refused to cooperate and abide by their farcical computer models. So, no money and power for you, for your failed theory. So they had to invent climate change, pretending that it could actually be caused by people.
Right now, they are acting like the auguries of old, fortune tellers that were gifted so could thus see omens, portents, signs, and the livers and spleens of various deceased animals, for which they have PhDs. And yet, like these ancient scam artists and con men, they have to go to lengths to pretend their knowledge is too arcane for mere mortals; and to bitterly attack the scoffers and cynics as heathens and heretics.
Yeah, yeah. We've heard it all before.

The right study question is how do the less-than-specks in congress plan to control the rest of the lesser-than-less-than-specks that elect them?

Even Newton, with equations that worked demonstrably, was wrong about gravity. Wrongish.

AGW is the actual theory, it's called global warming. Climate change is just a term made up when it stopped warming, a political term to further the charade and the gravy train they all slurp from. There actually is no formal accepted theory of anthropogenic climate change, it's simply nonsense.
