Kerry: ‘Silly Debate’ In Media On How To Combat Terrorism
CBS/AP ^ | February 19, 2015

WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — In the fight against violent extremism, President Barack Obama argues the U.S. has one thing going for it that Europe doesn’t: a long tradition of warmly embracing its immigrants, including Muslims.

With the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria spreading and terrorists gaining strength in the Mideast and Africa, Obama has sought to use this week’s White House summit on violent extremism to urge the world to broaden its response far beyond military interventions. U.S. airstrikes have managed to blunt some of the militants’ gains in Iraq and Syria, but they don’t address the extreme ideologies that underpin deadly groups such as ISIS, al-Shabab and Boko Haram.

During the summit’s closing session Thursday at the State Department, Obama urged delegates from 65 countries to “confront the warped ideology” espoused by terror groups, particularly efforts to use Islam to justify violence.

“These terrorists are desperate for legitimacy and all us have a responsibility to refute the notion that groups like ISIL somehow represent Islam, because that is a falsehood that embraces the terrorist narrative,” Obama said, using an acronym to refer to ISIS.

The president urged Arab nations in particular to take steps to quell sectarian violence and boost economic and educational opportunities that could provide young people in particular options beyond joining terror groups.

Speaking Thursday morning, Secretary of State John Kerry told participants: “There’s been a silly debate in the media in the last days about what you have to do. You have to do everything. You have to take the people off the battlefield, who are there today.”

“But you’re kind of stupid if all you do is do that and you don’t prevent more people from going to the battlefield,” he said

This guy is such a joke.

Right out of ‘central casting’ for a Democrat Secretary of State. Look for the term in any dictionary, and you’d see a picture of him illustrated.

The full Kerry quote... In the White House's weekly summit on violent extremism...

Speaking Thursday morning, Secretary of State John Kerry told participants: “There’s been a silly debate in the media in the last days about what you have to do. You have to do everything. You have to take the people off the battlefield, who are there today.”

Yes, running away from violent extremism always works. SMH. Not even Gandhi advocated that.

“But you’re kind of stupid if all you do is do that and you don’t prevent more people from going to the battlefield,” he said.

Yes, you are. And you aren't doing anything more. Thanks for the honest self-assessment.

Kerry added, “So we have a broad challenge here. And mostly it is to talk about facts and realities and to take those realities and put them into a real strategy that we all implement together.

Which we still do not have. Thanks for the briefing!

John forgot about those Muslims that were embraced in Boston just a year or so ago.

That was quite the Pressure cooker of a party that was thrown wasn’t it, John F’n Kerry?

And for some funny reason, I’m seriously doubting that they will be advocating withdrawal from the battlefield when the “violent extremists” are Americans.

... all us have a responsibility to refute the notion that groups like ISIL somehow represent Islam ...

Shoe on wrong foot alert.

It is not our responsibility to do anything of the kind. Are we supposed to be the experts on Isam? I don't think so.

I believe it is the responsibility of the Sunni imams to tell us what they think and WHAT THEY TEACH. Is beheading allowed by the Koran? Is ISIS behaving in ways radically different from their Prophet? Once again, I don't think so.

But I want to hear the answers to those questions from the real experts. So I'm waiting to hear from the Sunni imams.

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

Cute talk proposing dastardly and exceedingly dangerous policies that betray his allegiance to Islam above allegiance to our nation and the security of its citizens.

Silly? Then he will really be amused by the debate if he ever presents to the US Senate the “historic agreement” he is “negotiating” with Iran. However Obama will never present it to the Senate. Instead he’ll get the UN Security Council to endorse it and then claim the US is bound by “international law”. Obama views himself as a “world citizen” and despite the constitution and sovereignty of the United States, beleives the UN takes precedent.

They wouldn’t be terrorists if they only had healthly lunches. Send then Michelle’s lunch program.

Give them midnight basketball.

“But you’re kind of stupid if all you do is do that and you don’t prevent more people from going to the battlefield,” he said.

He is right about preventing more people from joining your enemy on the field of battle.

Probably the best way to do that is to make it an inescapable fact that if they join the enemy on the field of battle that they will die there.

“These terrorists are desperate for legitimacy and all us have a responsibility to refute the notion that groups like ISIL somehow represent Islam, because that is a falsehood.”

Where is the separation between church and state and when did a US President feel it is his duty and right to define and promote a religion? ISIS is a threat to this nation, that is all he needs to be concerned with, instead he is minimizing and excusing the threat by making it a religious debate. I don’t think he can do this.

“President Barack Obama argues the U.S. has one thing going for it that Europe doesn’t: a long tradition of warmly embracing its immigrants, including Muslims.”

Europeans have been importing Moors: North African, Turkish, Levantine, a hodge-podge of 5 times-a-day-headbangers, for as long as the Euros’ birth rates have been declining.
They did in fact “welcome and embrace them”—in fact Germany’s Merkel is still tarring Germans who have had enough and are no longer shy about expressing themselves.

The Euros hoped and expected the heathens would do the work and pay for the social programs that the missing Euro kids would not be doing ...
but the best laid plans of mice and Euros: the Saracens discovered the “socialist safety net”—the Hammock of Ease—and are now filing their own claims.
And they often file for more than one wife/family. They come to claim their own neighborhoods as if they were back home, especially in la belle France, and as Sharia-ruled while deciding who comes and goes.
So instead of assets, they: France, England, the Netherlands, Germany, all have serious liabilities.

And that’s where we are now, with George “JEB” III telling us we would do well to emulate the Euros if we don’t want to be racists.
Next I suppose he will be telling us older citizens it is our civic duty to kill ourselves to spare the social security system the burden that is us.

If the regime had a plan, it wouldn’t matter what they called them. The media debate about names is just fluff to avoid the fact that they have no plan.

ISIS already has a name, they gave it to themselves. Kill them all.
