Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has escalated his battle with ISIS in Libya by sending in Egypt’s special forces, which are considered some of the best in the world.
Egyptian special forces have allegedly launched a ground attack in Libya’s Islamic State-held Derna capturing dozens of Islamist militants, according to Egyptian and Libyan reports.
Ansa news agency cited unnamed local sources as saying that an Egyptian commando stormed the eastern Libyan town, a stronghold of the Islamic State (Isis) there, “capturing 55 Daesh [IS] militants”.
The Libyan National Army wrote on its Facebook page that Egyptian forces in coordination with the local army stormed IS camp in Derna, “killing a large number of IS militants and capturing several terrorists including Egyptians, foreigners and Arabs”.
An Egyptian newspaper, ElWatan News, reported that several jihadists were killed in the operation.

I wouldn’t call Egyptian SF “some of the best in the world,” but they’re more than a match for the ISIS killers. It would be sweet irony if some of the killers from the beach execution of the Copts got their own throats slit by Egyptian commandos.

The Obama Administration immediately condemned the Egyptian and Emirate attacks in retaliation for the slaughter of the Christian Copts. According to Pentagon spokesman Navy Rear Admiral John Kirby, the U.S. believes the crisis in Libya must be solved politically and without outside interference:
So let get this strait Kirby, for no reason other than Obama did not like the French were striking Libya without him- the US can attacks Libya, flees Libya and leave it a mess. But now everyone "gots to be peaceful" even when legitimately threatened. It sounds like Obama is just mad cuz he has done nothing about US citizens executions while al Sisi is doing something.

Kill enough of them and they will stop fighting. In this case, kill them all.
Unless these "militants" are in uniform and under command of a national government they should be considered spies and saboteurs. In the history of the civilized world these types of illegal combatants have been given summary judgement and executed. Anything less would be a big mistake.
Good for al-Sisi.
Derna would make an excellent port in an expanded western Egypt. Ironically, it seems that the only thing that can save southern Europe is Egypt taking over that coastline.

Exactly. Summary execution. Should be done by the people who captured them, right there on the beach. Same day.

I agree - invite al Sisi to speak to Congress - that will really blow Obama’s mind.
I would like to see Fox send Meghan Kelly to Egypt to interview him. He needs more exposure in the US.
