Cruz has been my favorite. But it depends on whether or not he’s said that he has no intention of deporting our current crop of foreign citizens illegally squatting in the country. If he has said that, as some have been saying, then my choice would be Jeff Sessions. But he’s not running.

I had a front row seat to watch California transform from American suburbia in the late 1960s into the third world colony it has become today. It became obvious that the GOP establishment was on the side of illegal aliens when they fought against grassroots Californians on Prop 187 in 1994. They have only gotten worse since.

So that’s how I decided that Republicans who won’t deport foreign nationals won’t get my vote. And you may be right, it may eliminate everyone.

If you can tell me how it makes sense to help ethnically cleanse America of its population and replace it with a foreign one then maybe I’ll vote for a Jeb Bush or a Marco Rubio and hasten the process. Why go over the cliff slowly when you can end things in style?

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your honesty.

I don't know that I have a favorite. I live in Wisconsin, so I have seen Walker up close. I really do not know a lot about Cruz outside of the general chatter. Unfortunately, I see a lot of misrepresentation of what Walker is, and a lot of it is coming from Cruz supporters. That makes me cautious about Cruz. I learned long ago that when I wasn't sure about a candidate or a position (like a proposition in CA) to look at who the supporters and detractors are. The stuff I see from the Cruz supporters, and the false statements they are making about Walker makes me really worried about Cruz.

But at the moment I am looking closest at Walker and Cruz.

As for immigration, there are so many things we should be doing but aren't. Here's a few thoughts -
-Real penalties for companies that knowingly hire illegals. Including jail time. I think this would solve most of the problem.
-Likewise, real penalties for renting to illegals.
-Close the birth-citizenship loophole.
-No catch-and-release. Immediate deportation (after jail time - see next).
-For those that break the law, jail time is served in camps near the border, with reduced time for labor on the border wall. After time served, immediate deportation. Since being here undocumented is against the law, 100% serve time at the border before being deported.
-No government services. The only exception is life-or-death medical care, followed by immediate deportation.
-Change tax system to a sales tax only. Closes the under-the-table gap and solves much of the drug problem at the same time.
-All government services (and forms) in English only. 100%. Only exception is for tourism. None of this voting with spanish ballots.
-Make it so that living here illegally is so uncomfortable that self-deporting is a major factor.
-Need a solution for non-Mexican deportation. Thinking an escorted flight home, with the cost coming out of the foreign aid we seem to send to every country in the world.
Regrettably, we need to help other countries be livable, to reduce the desire to illegally immigrate. It would appear the drug issue in northern Mexico needs to be addressed.
Asylum to be very closely scrutinized. We need to define friendly and unfriendly cultures and treat requests accordingly.
-H-1B visas need to be reconsidered. In my experience it isn't used to fill a position that cannot be filled locally. It is used to fill a position cheaper that a local resource.
The only was someone can apply for citizenship is from their own country, with a waiting period long enough to prove they are actually residing in their country. Like minimum one year wait, with monthly check-ins.

Wow, and that is just a start. I think one of the biggest items is we need to make it more expensive for people and businesses to do business with illegals than it is with citizens. Which means we need to solve the “chamber of commerce” issue on the right side of the political spectrum. Not sure how to do that. Casting a wide enough tent to win elections, but not so wide that you compromise your principals is a tough one.

Anyways, nice chatting.

LOL, re-read my post. I look like a maniac. You should see my welfare reform ideas. No food stamps. There would be government supported (maybe gov ran, maybe private ran) stores where anybody can pick up staples for free. Nobody would have an excuse to be hungry. However, those staples would be things like bags of rice, or potatoes, or peanut butter, or cooking oil. You want a TV dinner? Get a job. You want a bag of doritos? Get a job. And anyone getting government services would have to work for them. Sweeping the streets, or babysitting for the folks that are sweeping the streets. Or weeding parks. Or working on the farms that are growing the potatoes and apples that are in the welfare stores. I'm sure we can find enough things for these people to do. The ones that need it as a true safety net wouldn't mind. And the lazy democrats would finally have to contribute to society.
