They want to convince us that Putin is too powerful for America and the West to stand up to, and that we should submit and just let his long range military goals be accomplished since we are weak and inferior.

As far as Putin himself, he is a fake, and anyone that tries that hard to look masculine, and actually runs a semi nude campaign of it, with fake action shots and even fake discoveries (remember his fake diving discoveries?), has some serious issues.
This photo of him riding a horse half naked is pathetic, the horse looks like something that the photographer ordered from the petting zoo, totally child safe.
