I love my Kimber 1911 CDP Ultra II for conceal carry and my Kimber 1911 Warrior as my go to sidearm for when the SHTF.

Not exactly “bigazz”, unless your a child or a pussy.

I'm sure that's exactly the problem.

A 1911 is a large frame handgun. A G19 is not.

And the MARSOC .45 loaded is closer to 44oz.

Not to mention just about any equivalent load out you care to build will be approximately double the weight for the 1911 config.

It's not like a pistol is the only thing these guys have to carry. Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain.

As I recall, the housing that holds the springs and plungers is a hollow one, with a flat side, that’s riveted to the frame. If the rivets loosen, the housing can move about and may want to fall off. Solution: Replace the rivets, apply Red Loctite on flat side of slide stop/safety spring and plunger housing, set rivets, clean any excess Loctite, and clamp until Loctite sets up. The housing will never move again.

No, it is not. It is one of the slimmest pistols there is. You have obviously never held one.

I just can’t remember.

I bought my Glock in 1986, but read extensively on it in 1984 and 1985, before choosing it.

I’ve been looking for the reasons why it couldn’t compete, but it seems too far back and too obscure to quickly find something on the internet.

I’ll keep searching, I have seen guys on some forums mentioning a lack of a hammer and not having second strike capability, but who knows.

Why would anyone choose Tupperware?

I also love my Kimber 1911 CDP Ultra II but have recently bought a Sig Sauer P238 and love the lighter weight of that.

I’ve shot both.
Gave my Glock 19 to a dear friend.
I will never get rid of my Kimber 1911 Gold Combat.

I had an early Glock 17 and a 17L. The 17L was unusual in that it had the cutout in the slide but the barrel was solid.

I had quite a few jams with both but eventually discovered it was a run of magazines which was the problem. If you could see brass colored metal in the feed lip area, the mag was bad.

Seeing that metal color was not the problem. It was just that the bad mags also had that feature.

They have long since corrected whatever the problem was and from what I have read, are extremely reliable now.

Oh, ok. Cuz "slim" equals "not large frame." Not.

I have small hands and the 1911 fits perfectly. Much better than most 9's for me.

The 1911 is many things, "compact" it is not. If you want to believe the only reason they choose the Glock is because it's more reliable and easier to shoot, you're welcome to your opinion.

“Heaven forbid.”

Indeed. This is the 70th anniversary of the Iwo Jima campaign. The M 1911 had the stopping power to kill Japs when you ran out of ammo for your M-1.

I carried an M1911 all the time during my tour. (No, I was not on Iwo. Wasn’t born yet.)

It’s all about personal weapon preference.

I have about average to maybe large hands. There are only two designs which so far fit my hands perfectly. One is the CZ models which have the slide and frame rails reversed. The other is the Browning Hi-Power which seems to fit everyone.

A lot of pistols feel fairly good including many of the Glocks, also the Sig Sauer P226 types.

The worst feeling auto I recall is the Ruger P-89. I liked it so well and wanted one but just felt horrible in my hand.
