L.A. Times to NRA: Government’s ‘Responsibility’ To Regulate 2nd Amendment
breitbart ^ | Feb. 20, 2015 | AWR HAWKINS

On February 19, the Los Angeles Times reacted to the growing momentum for Campus Carry legislation across the country by referring to the NRA as “crackpots” and reminding the organization that it is the government’s “responsibility to protect the public through reasonable gun control laws.”

In other words, “shall not be infringed” does not mean shall not be regulated and/or controlled.

According to the Times, the NRA has hit a new low by promoting the idea that an expansion of Campus Carry means “gun-toting women would be armed to defend themselves in the event of sexual assaults.”

The Times claims no one should be surprised by the NRA’s position–after all, “these are the same crackpots who argued” that students should be allowed to carry guns for self-defense following the 2007 attack on Virginia Tech.

It’s the people’s responsibility to regulate the government!

Not hardly, surfer boys and girls. On the other hand, what if the Big BO were to push for regulation of the news media? THEN would you think may the funny-eared Kenyan might be stepping over his bounds?

It’s the government’s resposibility to obey the Constitution.

No infringing

SLIGHTLY incorrect...it is the one of the few where the gov’t is specifically DENIED to ‘mess with’; whereas the 1st only specifies Congress SHALL

Of course, we have some on the Right that fight for S.S./etc. because they think they ‘paid into it’ *rolls eyes*

Course, these are the same Leftist ass-clowns who have (SOMEHOW) perverted the Commerce *CLAUSE* to negate the whole of the Constitution. Only an over-educated Socialist idiot (but I repeat myself)...

If a Right is not absolute, it is therefore not a Right to begin.

I know the Left has no critical thinking/debate skills....I almost expected them to bring out the ‘Race Card’ (TM) along with this waste of ink.

But many FReepers believe it's okay to regulate whether a felon can own a gun after he has served his time. If you can regulate a certain group, it all becomes subjective who and what can be regulated.

I agree. Once someone has paid their debt to society they should get their rights restored; including 2A and voting.

Maybe government should regulate everything the LA Times writes. Oh, wait...the LAT already, voluntarily censors itself and acts as the willing propagandist for the Obama regime. The MSM are only too happy to Obama’s attack dogs and protectors.

These people live in an alternate universe.

Not yet they don't and that's their frustration. Their objective is to create that alternate universe with themselves among the "elite" who would rule all of us lesser beings.

That, yes, and the use of the phrase 'shall not' be infringed indicates an absolute, end of discussion. No tampering with this right.

“Americans have a 2nd Amendment right to own guns, but it’s not an absolute right.”

So who and by what right, by what code and by what standard gets to set where it begins and ends?

Someone needs to regulate the LA Slimes ability to publish this nonsense. They should have to take a class, get registered, and carry a license. Then add a tax on their ink and paper. A free press has limits.
