"I can't see where a man makes $50,000 a year pays as much taxes as somebody that makes $300,000 a year."
The title should probably read, "Most who are bad at math (and economics) back Obama plan to raise investment taxes.

"I can't see where a man makes $50,000 a year pays as much taxes as somebody that makes $300,000 a year." The $50K a year guy is probably employed by a $300K a year guy.

D.C. had a record tax intake this year...it is the spending. Everyone knows that (even liberals - who don’t care)

The middle class is taxed too much, but the reason is that the government is too large and too wasteful, not that there may be a bit more to squeeze out of the “rich.”

Don't tax you; don't tax me. Tax that fellow behind the tree.
Often attributed to Russell Long but appears to go back to the 1930's.

Whatever you tax, you get less of, so I guess they want less investments..................

I got an idea.
How about rather than taxing everyone more, simply bring back American manufacturing to America?
Leave taxation the same. But bring back US jobs.
To: Toddsterpatriot
The obvious solution is to lower the tax on the middle class.

So the tax code is not about raising revenue; it is now a punitive instrument of the state. Reckless spending (to buy votes) is the problem, not taxing.

Let’s go back to tariffs and sales taxes and ditch the income tax altogether.

Of course... every one wants to tax the rich - but they also want the government to stay away from taxing them.

I have a better idea. Abolish capital gains tax and taxes on interest and dividends.

The media want this narrative, that way they don’t have to acknowledge the more taken out of the private sector the smaller it gets, Obama gets no blame. He has no interest in economic improvement, just his ‘economic justice’.

Stealing other people’s money is ok with most today. Take away morals and people prey on others.

On the other hand the rich themselves want to pay more taxes. Don't you listen to their media. This is what they constantly say unless you believe that the media is owned by the poor. I think that as long as the media (controlled by the rich) make this pitch then indeed it is fair for them to pay more taxes. If wealthy Republicans don't like that then they should start buying media instead of leaving it to the Dems to run the media. In fact for every year the border is not secured we should raise taxes on these C of C country clubbers and their rich lib gentry fiends. Don't forget every time we try to make ourselves relevant we hear them talk about how they are working together to “get things done”. As long as they are “working together to get things done “then they should pay the taxes for spending money like that.

"most people in the United States support President Barack Obama's proposal to raise investment taxes on high-income families."
In the regressive liberal universe, that would devolve to any income level above the poverty line.
