To: PROCON

I am not completely against solar, but could we possibly restrict solar projects to where they would make any sense at all? New Jersey is not a good candidate for solar, except for trees.

Even at 4 kWh / m2 / day and 15% efficiency I would need a 23x23 ft panel (45.7 m2 total) to provide 10,000 kWh in a year. I wonder if that map assumes that you can always keep your panel perpendicular to the sun or if it is just perpendicular to the noon sun.

If I were building a new house I would probably include solar into it because Obama's war on coal, oil, natural gas, wood, enriched uranium, yak manure and anything else you can burn to provide heat and light will ensure that costs will only go up in the future.

Same here, market it properly and you could have something work out. What’s wrong with setting it up in Arizona or Nevada, for instance?
