There are two videos of the event where Obama made this display of his forefinger. People who have questioned the article's interpretation of the gesture should take a close look at these videos, and listen to them as well.
It does not take forensic science to recreate the scenario. It's all there in the videos: Just after Obama walked on stage, an off-camera voice coming from behind him cried, “Allahu Akbar.” This is a Muslim expression meaning “God is the greatest,” a cry that Muhammad, the creator of Islam, made frequent use of to incite people to violence and to praise their violent deeds.
Obama’s hand gesture was in response to this cry. It happened quickly. Eight seconds into the video below (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc6XHQHeWnM&feature=youtu.be&t=8s) you can see that he raises his right hand rapidly, and as it reaches the level of his face, a thumbs-up gesture has formed. His hand then disappears behind his head for the briefest moment, and when it reappears, his thumb is folded under his index finger.
It is by then a fully formed and perfectly executed usbu al-shahada -- the finger of shahada, shahada being the fundamental declaration of faith of Muslims: There is but one God and Muhammad is his messenger. This is not finger pointing, or making a point, or getting attention in order to ask a question, or the wagging of a finger.

“Snopes” is a couple of leftist dingbats.
Don’t need to have absolute proof on this one, as he has stated things like
“ the sweetest sound is the call to prayer”
Take a good look at his right shoulder. Maybe he gave the gang sign somewhere, but this looks like someone’s botched attempt to portray it.
I don’t believe that Obama is a Muslim.
Then again, I don’t believe that he’s really a Christian either.
I do believe that he’s an areligious, opportunistic narcissist. Who does things like this knowingly (having grown up in Muslim Indonesia) and deliberately to provoke reactions (feeding his narcissism) and distract (opportunistically) from the all the bad things (foreign and economic policy, undermining the Constitution) he’s responsible for.
Actions speak louder than signs. We know whose side Obama is on and it ain’t America’s!

I have no doubt in my mind that Obama is a muslim. And if someone can find a valid photo or video, please post it. But, if we continue to post these reworked photos and videos that claim to "prove" Obama said this or did that, we're certainly not helping ourselves. We only make ourselves look like a bunch of idiots.
It is a milestone that American Thinker is saying this. The mainstream conservative sites are finally coming on board.They and we have known or surmised that we are “led” by a Mohammedan for a long time but everyone has been shy about mentioning it. Now NRO needs to come on board an then Washington Times. Fox News will be very late to the party and may have a tire blow out and never get there at all.
There have been many smoking guns and this video is just larger caliber ammo.
It’s the timing that gives the context. The picture cannot be viewed in isolation without considering the timing. Someone says “Allahu akbar” behind Obama, and he flips up the Shahada finger. It’s on video. Timing makes the case. It wasn’t a random palsy-jerk throwing his arm up and giving him hand spasms.
What visit to Iran?
Can you rephrase that? I don’t get your point or see an anomaly in either photo.
I certainly remember when MO made the ‘bu-lack powah’ fist on stage after BO was elected in 2008.
A true christian coukd never refer to the Inshallah in this way.
