To: Servant of the Cross

The Oscars have been increasingly irrelevant towards the recognition of the best performances in the production of motion pictures for the last 50 years or longer. If anything, recognition by an Oscar is often confirmation of inferior performance. Its effect upon my purchasing habits is to discourage the viewing and purchasing of such motion pictures.

I learned that lesson back when I was a kid. In 1981, that silly Chariots of Fire won best picture over Raiders of the Lost Ark. That actually did me a favor -- I lost interest and haven't watched another awards show since.
