Cheers Star Blasts Liberal Elites: 'You Don't Want an Ivy Leaguer' in a Disaster
NewsBusters ^ | 2/23/15 | Scott Whitlock

Posted on 02/23/2015 9:09:51 AM PST by AT7Saluki

Your World anchor Neil Cavuto referenced Scott Walker and noted, "He didn't finish college. So, he doesn't have that prestigious degree. He could be up against an Ivy Leaguer like Hillary Clinton."

Ratzenberger zinged, "You know Ivy Leaguers and I know Ivy Leaguers. And I tell you, those are not the people whose houses you rush to after an earthquake." The actor mocked, "It's not like, 'he's got an MBA from Harvard. He'll know what to do!'" - See more at: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2015/02/23/cheers-star-blasts-liberal-elites-you-dont-want-ivy-leaguer-disaster#sthash.qfTXoTQ1.dpuf

Cavuto would be watchable - if he could keep his mouth shut. He always interupts and talks over people!

Complete sidebar, but he’s one of only four actors to appear in all 271 episodes.

How Ratzenberger and Rowe have managed to avoid each other is a mystery.

I saw Ratzenberger on the news the other day about the fact that he was giving money to schools to teach basic shop classes.

Imagine a show with John Ratzenberger, Mike Rowe, and Larry the Cable Guy traveling around the country doing different jobs. Kind of like Top Gear for American jobs.

Interesting. Who are the other three? Norm and Sam are the only ones I can think of.

Maybe Larry could do the plumbing jobs ... from his movie, he appears to have the ‘backside lineup’ for it.

He’s also the only actor who’s made an appearance in every Pixar movie.

Ratzenberger spoke to a manufacturing conference I attended in Orlando about 4 years ago. He was just starting his push about shop classes at that time. It was a good presentation.

I remember some years ago a Freeper posted a cartoon from the 1930's showing Ivy Leaguers on a horse-drawn wagon trying to run the economy--this dates from around 1935 during the height of the New Deal.

“The actor mocked, “It’s not like, ‘he’s got an MBA from Harvard. He’ll know what to do!’”

I think this was more of a zing at Bush. I think Ratzenberger is a hollywood liberal (I could be wrong). After Cheers had its final episode, he remarked something along the lines of how people needed the tv show Cheers in order to help them cope with the Reagan-Bush years.

imo, Cavuto is Fox News' only redeeming quality... redeeming factor...

The William Buckley quote is really applicable here: “I’d rather be governed by the first 2,000 names in the Boston telephone directory than by the 2,000 members of the Harvard faculty.”

I can’t think of any scenario when my first thought would be “where can I find the nearest Ivy Leaguer”. Unless maybe I was running low on merlot or brie...

Cliff’s “Buffalo Theory” is still one of my favorite Cheers moments...

“Well ya see, Norm, it’s like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.”

“In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.”

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”

it was a zing at Obama and/or Hillary... he is a Republican... he and Kelsey Grammar have appeared together at political events...

Love Ratzenberger. He’s mostly doing Christian movies now, some of which are quite affecting. I appreciate his candor.
