As Republicans Concede, F.C.C. Is Expected to Enforce Net Neutrality
New York Slimes ^ | 2/24/2014 | Jonathan Weisman

WASHINGTON — Last April, a dozen New York-based Internet companies gathered in the Flatiron Building boardroom of the social media website Tumblr to hear dire warnings that broadband providers were about to get the right to charge for the fastest speeds on the web.

The implication: If they didn’t pay up, they would be stuck in the slow lane.

What followed has been the longest, most sustained campaign of Internet activism in history, one that the little guys appear to have won. On Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission is expected to vote to regulate the Internet as a public good. On Tuesday, Senator John Thune, Republican of South Dakota and chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, all but surrendered on efforts to overturn the coming ruling, conceding Democrats are lining up with President Obama in favor of the F.C.C.

Caving is the only thing we can count on them to do each and every time.

Leadership has zero core convictions about anything other than staying in power.

He’s turned the Presidency into a dictatorship.

He’s just getting started. The next two years will be hellish.

Dateline 1896:

In an unprecidented move a bill signed by President McKinley has unsured fairness and equality for all roadway users. The nation’s top buggy whip makers, ferriers, and livery operators were warned by constitutional scholar Woodrow Wilson that the new developments of the automobile would force horse powered modes of transportation could potentially forced to use slower roadways. The Roadway Neutrality Act of 1896 ensures that no automobile may excede the speed of any horse powered mode of transportation. All automobiles will also be requireded to carry buggy whips, have horse shoes installed, and automobiles must be stored in certified livery stables.

Horace B. Bootbinder of the International Brotherhood of Ferriers Local 657, says in a release, “This is a great day for fairness among all transportation related industries. The livelihood of thousands would be wiped out because of the greedy few that can afford automobiles. The Roadway neutrality law ensures that the ferrier industry, livery stables, and buggy whip manufacturers will be strong now, strong tomorrow, and strong forever.”

I agree. We are in hell. The existential threat isn't ISIS, it is Obama.

Why does anyone think Obama will just leave in 2016?

The upcoming "green tip" ammo ban should be a big hint ...

His legacy will be to have neutered the legislative branch. He is a monster. The damage is huge and he's is not done. The republic is dead. Both Presidents form Illinois have been disasters.

I don’t disagree. All he needs is one good crisis to justify an extension of his term. All in the interest of “maintaining stability in this time of great crisis” of course. /sarc

The GOP candidate that simply says "I plan on reversing everything the Obama Admin did to the USA" would win. That is a simple campaign message.

I believe you are correct, and the amount of blackmailing these R’s have against them must be staggering. If he didn’t leave and refused to leave, what would change? Who would physically demand he leave and actually evict? What would be different than him doing executive orders (oh, without actually putting them on paper...like that matters)?

Not a thing.

Getting the message yet. America is finished and will never be the shining light on the hill again. And I predict the 2016 election we will see the communists control of America continuing. There is nothing but a few politicians on our side and the majority of the voters support the communists.

What’s this? Three major losses for the GoP in a single day?

1) Keystone XL.
2) DHS funding bill.
3) FCC “Net Neutrality”.

Who’s ploting strategy here?
