Jurors deliberated just 2 1/2 hours before finding that former Marine Cpl. Eddie Ray Routh was guilty of capital murder for the shooting deaths of former Navy SEAL and American Sniper author Chris Kyle and his best friend, Chad Littlefield.

Routh, 27, of Lancaster was immediately sentenced to life in prison without parole by state District Judge Jason Cashon as Routh’s stunned parents sat holding hands in the courtroom. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.

If every cell of every LIFER was equipped with a ceiling hook and a permanent noose how many “Lifers” would self-terminate(Brooksy in Shawshank Redemption). It would be his choice. Wouldn’t it ease overcrowding and save tax dollars?

"The death penalty is for the victims family and friends to have closure. It also is closure for the community at large. Life in prison for the murderer is cruel joke on the family members/fiends and the community."

Fair point. Personally, I'd have closure knowing they have life without parole and live in a box; no hope; no freedom; rape; beatings; stabbings; etc. Like stated above, my problem is with the "humane" lethal injections. If condemed to execution, I'd support it if they're slowly hung in public and/or televised. No quick snapping of the neck - let them twist and spasm while kicking their legs...

Of course, this would only apply to those who are undoubtly guilty. DNA testing has now shown some few weren't actually guilty. But monsters like Eddie Ray Routh who unequivically murdered Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield is not that exception. Hang him or hard labor for life. Just don't put him to sleep like I had to for my beloved doggie last year. They don't deserve the same treatment. Yes, I'm vengeful.

YES! But don’t tie the knot too tight. Let him suffer as the rope strangles him while he moans and gurgles and twists in the wind.

"Which is why the only way for him to survive is to spend the rest of his entire life in solitary confinement."

For life, that would be hell on Earth. Doubt that will occur. He'll probably be put in general population and probably join some white supremacist gang to survive. Don't think any inmate would really care about him murdering Kyle and Littlefield. Murder is a badge of honor in most prison populations. Hardcore inmates are not very patriotic.

There are mainly only (2) offenses that all types of prisoners abhor - pedaphiles and snitches.

Thank you for the photo. These were true men, unlike the metro-sexual p*ssies just shown on the Oscars. There are countless real men who haven't been neutered by feminism.

BTW, since I've always know you to have an honest practical opinion on issues, what's your take on VA Secretary McDonald claim to have been in Special Forces?

There's much debate about him finishing Ranger training but never assigned to a Ranger unit. I've read that Rangers are included in Special Operations, but he specifically said Special Forces which is the designation for Green Berets. Did he mean SpecOps? Why couldn't he have said 82 Airborne? Great warriors in their own right.

I'm not sure Biblically how promoting a sin like that would be justified at judgment.
We do have a responsibility over Gods children but at the same time we also have the
right to kill them for their crimes, not as Gods judgment but Mans judgment for
their crimes.

I'm all for the death penalty in just about every case, it's just the rare couple
like this one where I would prefer a concrete box. The prick in this case wanted to make
a name for himself and it's my belief he failed miserably because his name has hardly
been mentioned at all before this went to trial. And hopeful after this he'll be
completely forgotten accept in his passing, and only as a passing thought.

I would've liked to have met Chief Petty Officer Chris Kyle to shake his hand.
His commitment to our country is as good as it gets in the name of Patriotism
and Honor. God Bless, Rest in Peace.

Don't be too sure about that. There are lots of vets in outlaw motorcycle gangs and, surprisingly enough, many are quite patriotic and conservative in their politics. I think there are a lot in prison would enjoy the chance to take out a coward who shot a brother vet in the back.

Thank you from my heart for your very kind words. I have complete respect and admiration for honorable service and I’m humbled by all who served honorably.

I don’t know enough about VA Secretary McDonald’s claim to have been in Special Forces, but if he’s exaggerated in the lesst bit, then I think that would be unconscionably shameful.

God bless and keep you, dearest Navy Vet.
I thank you for your service.

Well, there is that. If so, I wouldn't be sad if it were to the gut with a dull shiv. Not that I'm encouraging inmates to kill.

If that is true the Mother’s behavior was not just dumb but complicit. She should be at least fined, sued or put on trial as an Accessory To Murder! Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?
