Yes it is, which would make it even more difficult for the attack ships to penetrate that deep against a carrier.
I think we should add Bofors 40mm cannons along with 30mm Goal Post units and anti-ship missiles. What we have now can be overwhelmed and exhausted. And they can’t reload. I don’t forsee attacks on our carriers to be a one shot deal.
When WW III starts it will be for real—A cabal of nations vs USA and a few Allies. This time it may go nuclear. No carrier battle group could take a nuke. Iran will be an enemy. Who else The Pakastanis, North Korea, China, Russia, on our side—Israel, England (maybe) and France. Maybe Canada and India. It’s not IF but When.

This appeared to be more propaganda for Iranian consumption than practical threat. Yes, you can take a PT boat and do a suicide run at a carrier. There are screening destroyer that would probably resolve that problem. Ass reg45 states if they ever did sink a carrier it would only result in missle attacks from submarines.

As a live fire exercise-type video, it’s kinda neat! Who wouldn’t want to build a scale aircraft carrier and bomb it with, say, radio controlled planes?
But I don’t think that barge even sank, did it? Unconvincing as a demonstration of power. It would have been better propaganda if it had dramatically rolled over and sank.

Does Iran think our carriers and their multiple escorts are NOT armed? That would prove to be a very fatal error on their part.
That supposed “exercise” was just like odumbo’s photo ops, no substance but just for show.
The purpose of the video is to send it to the remote areas where they recruit terrorists to show Iran’s sinking of a US carrier......for reals.
Yeah, it was just a plywood mock-up, but I think the Iranians are making a point here. Obama and his flunkies are accusing Benjamin Netanyahu of jeopardizing the nuclear talks with Iran, meanwhile, the Iranians are staging demonstrations like this to show us they have no intention of living in peaceful coexistence with the West.
Surface and air attacks are to be expected and can be dealt with. The sub attack is the real menace.
A missile attack might cripple an A/C carrier and even render it useless. But to actually sink a modern A/C carrier is actually really hard to do without below the water line damage. Even then it is so huge and built like a honey comb plus you have thousands of guys trying to keep it afloat..
