Senate Panel Backs Loretta Lynch as Attorney General

WASHINGTON—The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Thursday to move Loretta Lynch, President Barack Obama ’s nominee for attorney general, to the Senate floor for a final confirmation vote.

The committee approved the nomination of Ms. Lynch, currently Brooklyn’s U.S. Attorney, by a vote of 12 to 8. Republican Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah joined all of the committee’s Democrats in voting yes.

Ms. Lynch has so far generated little animosity from Republican senators, even those who ended up voting against her. Many praised her work as a prosecutor and some said they were glad that Attorney General Eric Holder , a frequent target of GOP criticism, would be replaced. Mr. Holder is staying on the job until Ms. Lynch is confirmed.

But during Ms. Lynch’s confirmation hearing late last month, she drew criticism from most of the committee Republicans for saying she agreed with a Justice Department memo that said Mr. Obama’s plan to grant a reprieve to millions of undocumented immigrants was legal. Nor did Ms. Lynch forcefully disavow any of Mr. Holder’s policies—though she did repeatedly say she would be independent from the president. And she promised to try to improve the relationship between the Justice Department and Congress.

Correct me if I’m wrong, please. 20 members on the Senate Judiciary committee; 11 republicans, 9 democrats.

Sorry, posting from my phone and posted before I got to ask: who, why and how a person is selected to be on this committee. Is there always a person advantage for the party that “controls” the Senate?

GOP RINO BASTARDS like this piss me off daily. Allowing them to continue to masquerade as republicans will kill the GOP. I’d like to know their justification in voting for this racist commie bitch!

Republican Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah

So she would have been DOA without these 3.

Good Grief! "I'll take 'Friends of McCain' for $1000, Alex."

I got a call from a head hunter with a job open in Charleston, SC. I told her “hell no, there is no way you can pay me enough to live in SC.” She asked why and I told her “the people there are so stupid they keep electing Lindsey Graham.”

She didn’t get it.

“Jeff Flake of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah joined all of the committee’s Democrats in voting yes. “
This is why I have left the party. As we speak —TODAY— obama has illegally prohibited certain common ammunition to be made except for his people to shoot us. WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICRATS? and TODAY He has illegally siezed the internet to stiffle sites like this one ( no doubt about that). WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICRATS? and today the Senate will legally ratify the King’s illegal pontificate on illegal aliens. WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICRATS. We are sliding into hell and these damned republicrats are impotent!!

I would be extremely surprised if Flake, Graham, Hatch and McCain voted against her.

These are top members of the GOP gang of backstabbing bastards.

I have some hopes for Loretta Lynch, as much hope as you can have for a Democrat. She is a federal prosecutor, her father is Pastor of White Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina and her late older brother Lorenzo was a Navy Seal for twelve years. He died in a VA hospital in 2009 from complications of diabetes.

I hope all you people in their states raise hell and flood their offices with calls. I did, and I don’t live in any of their states. Congress will have blood on it’s hands when we have the next 911 due to this open border crap.

Well, I don’t know if I have hope but if she has NC roots, Graham has SC roots, maybe this has some reason for this going through.

I was disappointed in some of the answers she gave to the questions. That is the problem people have. Nothing against her background.

Yes.

11 republicans - 3 republicans = 8.

9 democrats + 3 republicans = 12.

That should have sent her directly to the dust bin.

But NOOOoooooo! Now we will have more unconstitutional DOJ activity thanks to these weak kneed Republicans! MY GOD,,,,they have power but they WILL NOT use it? What is WRONG with them?????
