I suspect the 110 million number is not how many have infections at the moment, but rather, have EVER had one.
I believe it’s possible that 110 million could have had a sexually transmitted disease as some point in their life.
I do not see a way to interperted the data as past but now gone infections.
However, it does describe it as number of infections, rather than number of infected people.
They may be counting an individual with 3 separate infections as 3, not 1.
