We are flying over Iraq now (ISIS thing. . .you know. . .means we have assets flying over the airspace all the time and that means we have eyes monitoring the comings and going of all air activity in the country), and AWACs is not the only source we use to track airspace activities.

We have other assets in theater that provide coverage, from Air Force to Navy to whatever, and these assets provides us with very detailed coverage capability over Iraq.

Been there done that. Making occasional strikes on ISIS does NOT mean whe have AWACs overlooking the area all the time or even most of the time, nor does it mean we have fighter CAP in place.

Without AWACS, the radar horizon and range are going to preclude Navy ships from keeping an eye on a strike transitting Iraq.
