GOP Senators Back Extensions if Health-Law Tax Credits Voided
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 2, 2015 | Louise Radnofsky

The trio of Republicans tasked with shaping GOP senators’ response if the Supreme Court voids many of the Obama health law’s tax credits have thrown their weight behind a short-term extension of financial assistance.

Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Orrin Hatch of Utah and John Barrasso of Wyoming gave their backing to such a plan in an op-ed published Sunday night in the Washington Post.

“Republicans have a plan to create a bridge away from Obamacare,” wrote the men, who were tapped by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell with devising a strategy for GOP senators.

You Freepers can be proud you voted for the GOP ... cause we RINOs got the message about the mandate ... and to prove it, we are going to replace Obamacare with Obamacare Lite ... and that way we can save the Royal Idiot's signature legislative achievement!

Just what is wrong with these “leaders”? I believe they are merely rich fools.

Elections have consequences except perhaps in the USA where they no longer do because the Republicans are Pu$$y whipped and terrified of the MSM.

Tasked by whom? Our pal McConnell?

Unfortunately the entire concept of health care subsidies is flawed in my opinion. Where in the Constitution is the government authorized to give subsidies to anyone?

When Obamacare was first proposed, and the concept of subsidies was just accepted with no discussion of the basic authority to provided them, the war was lost!

Even by losing the Supreme Court case, Obama can end up winning. If all of the sudden 9 million are without insurance, parents of handicapped children have their kids thrown off their paid for plans because of pre-existing conditions, and sons and daughters up to 26 years old are removed from their parents plan, the GOP are going to scramble to come up with a solution and God only knows what they will negotiate with the Whitehouse.

They should start today coming up with a market-driven replacement to be ready. Even if we lose the court case, the new plan will be exposed to debate and be available for “repeal and replace”.

I guess the good news, maybe, is these Senators may be getting ready for a day without Obamacare. I guess that is a good start, even if they are going about it the wrong way.

We now have the advent of the Obama Republicans.
They have put another nail in the coffin of the chance for a Republican President being elected in 2016.
And maybe have done their part to demolish the Republican Party.

They are not fools; they are knaves. They are quite good at manipulating the gullible GOP base to repeatedly vote for them and keep them in office. What do the GOP voters get in return for their votes? They must like being abused and deceived.

Well put. They wear the GOP uniform but play for the other side. The GOP base really needs to wake up, if that’s even possible.

Of course they will do this, they are not idiots. They know perfectly well they would be voted out of office if they did not put in a temporary extension, and rightly so.

That will give them time to come up with a permanent replacement for Obamacare. If they managed to get that passed by both houses, then the ball is in Obama’s court. If he doesn’t sign, then HE is the one causing millions of people to lose their health coverage.

I do wonder about some of the people here. I suppose if they fought a war, they charge the enemy yelling and firing like mad. Ever hear of tactics? Subtle stratagems? Setting up your opponents to take the fall?

“I do wonder about some of the people here. I suppose if they fought a war, they charge the enemy yelling and firing like mad.”

No, they would be standing on the sidelines demanding that some one else “charge the enemy yelling and firing like mad.”

And, yes, it’s been demonstrated time and time again that there is a complete lack of tactical understanding or strategic wisdom on this site.

Next time you’re at Wiki, try reading something on tactics and strategy. This would be a good start:

Ah, but you give the Repubs in Congress too much credit. They do not know tactics, only the white flag.
