Bearing Arms Is Our Right; Protecting Our Families Is Our Responsibility

"No free man shall ever be debarred from the use of arms."

Who said that?

Some right wing zealot, clinging to his “guns or religion,” a lifetime member of the NRA who takes the Second Amendment seriously and believes that it means exactly what is says?

No, that statement, among others concerning America's constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms, was made by an internationally recognized intellectual, founder of a university, statesman, farmer, businessman, diplomat, eloquent author of our most meaningful federal papers and two term President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. The quote was in Jefferson’s first three drafts of the Virginia Constitution, although it did not make it to the final draft, but the words were indeed his.

Who does the government consider to be a greater potential threat (to the government of course), the savages of ISIS or those citizens who want to preserve their rights? Hint - it isn't ISIS.

The greatest threat to the government is conservatives like you and me. The greatest threat to citizen's freedom, liberty and even our lives isn't ISIS, but overreaching government as typified by the lawless 0bama.

Unfortunately, we have arrived at a time in our history where it is unwise to discuss the armament that we possess, unwise to buy new weapons because the paperwork involved will serve to identify us and add our names to a list and even unwise to even purchase additional ammunition. While I know that it is not possible to avoid these things, it would be far better to purchase arms and ammunition from private sources.

"No free man shall ever be debarred from the use of arms."

Easy enough for the Obama administration to fix! The quote says that "no free man" should be prohibited, so we'll just enslave all of those right-wing bitter clingers in the miasma of our criminal justice system. Problem solved!

Sigh.

I am driving to California in May. What do I do, leave my weapon in Utah, and pick it up on the way back?
