The National Right to Work Foundation announced Wednesday that three employees at LyondellBasell filed unfair labor practice charges against the United Steelworkers Union.
The charges allege that union officials from Steelworkers Local 13-227 are harassing workers who are going back to work. The charges were filed Monday with the National Labor Relations Board, according to the foundation that is providing free legal help.
The foundation accused an unnamed local union official of making threats toward workers who continue to work during the strike. The group also alleges that union officials have allowed a union Facebook page to threaten union-represented employees who have gone back to work along with those who may be considering it.
Union officials did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
Late last month, LyondellBasell also filed an unfair labor practice charge with the NLRB, accusing the Steelworkers union of harassing members who have returned to their jobs.
The company alleges in its NLRB charge that union representatives have threatened returning employees and used abusive language in social media.
Go ahead. That’s what killed the steel industry in Pittsburgh. Now there are no steel jobs to speak of there.
It is possible it will put down the Union around here. Texas is a right to work state.
A couple of the refineries are hiring, some strikers are leaving the picket line to go back to their paycheck.
Shell Deer Park has said if it last until summer, the training of new employees will be done and they will be full staff without the current union members.
