A small plane piloted by Harrison Ford has crash-landed at an L.A. golf course ... but we're told the actor has survived. TMZ has learned ... Ford was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane Thursday ... when something went wrong and he crashed into Penmar golf course in Venice, CA. We're told Ford suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor. Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. He should have stuck to flying the Millennium Falcon.

When I used to golf in Brooklyn, they would just put a line around the burned out cars and mark it “Ground Under Repair”. Any ball hit inside the line was a free drop, no closer to the hole.

Seems like the same rule should apply to crashed aircraft...

Amen to that. If he’s partial to vintage stuff, perhaps a vintage yacht, or a 1920 something Rolls or Bugatti might be a good choice.

Clint pre-dates Harrison Ford.

Clint would be on the same list (I personally like Eastwood better as a director than actor), but he’s older than Ford by at least a decade and was already a star when Ford came along, so my feeling of Ford being “the last” still stands.

although its serious, I had more laughs from all you freepers than any thread recently. thanks...I needed to laugh today

One of my favorite scenes in Victor/Victoria is when James Garner, utterly overwhelmed by everyone he knows suddeny turning up homosexual, seeks out the nastiest bar he can find and insults the bartender by demanding a glass of mother's milk. A huge fistfight then ensues with the entire bar. Afterwards, they're all beat up together, drinking beer and singing songs.

That scene just warms my heart and makes me think of what it's like to be a FReeper : )

yeah, me too,

not sure I would even want to crawl out of bed in the morning if we lost Spock and Han Solo (and Rick Decker and Indiana Jones) all in the same week,

Prayers for a speedy recovery,

Flying’s dangerous enough without dealing with rickety vintage equipment. If he recovers, he needs to move on to modern aircraft.

Life is all about risk vs. reward, and everyone chooses for themselves where to draw that line. Let him fly what he wants to fly... it's his neck after all.

The only pilot who successfully flew the Granville GB was Jimmy Doolittle

And Delmar Benjamin... He built an exact replica GB R-1 and did airshows with it for years.

Yes, it even flew upside down.

In 1977 Ford was born July 1940. Now he’s YOUNGER? He will be 75 this year. Add age to his well-known rep as a serious pot head and NO way should he be flying. Will anyone have the guts to take away his flying priveleges, or will he( like so many other elderly who are too stubborn to face their diminished abilities and go on driving till they kill others) go on flying until he crashes killing others as well as himself-only because of who he is?

Must have a death wish.

Wrong. He's just an adrenalin chaser.

There are basically two kinds of people in the world, and the world needs both kinds. One is the type of person who excels and thrives mentally when his/her world is organized and safe and steady, danger minimized, adrenalin chargers kept to a minimum. The person is happier that way, and it's right and good.

The other kind of person is one who excels and thrives mentally when he can take time to live "on the edge" in some way or another. For his/her own mental health, they must do something to chase adrenalin -- ride roller coasters, skydive, shoot guns in competition, drive fast cars, ride fast horses, surf gigantic waves, etc. They most assuredly don't have death wishes -- on the contrary, they have a lust for life -- it only manifests itself differently than the non-adrenalin chasers' equal love of life. Ford is obviously an adrenalin chaser, God bless him. I am SO relieved that he is safe, sound, and well. Thank you, lord! Now please, Lord, help him see the light and become a limited government conservative!!!
