what kind of threat was the kid that the cop had to force his way into his apartment? Did the cop feel “disrespected” when he yelled “halt” and determined to force the kid to submit or pursue and kill him?

Don’t they have search warrants to go into people’s homes unless there is violence occurring inside that home?

something about this story stinks- not getting all the facts here

If the police are in "hot pursuit" of a fleeing felon, they can enter without a warrant and even search without a warrant.

They do not need to chase him into a particular apartment in order to be in "hot pursuit". If a witness tells them that he entered a certain door, that is good enough. The report of a battery might establish probable cause for a felony.
